To install CAL(TM):
If you have INSTALL.BAT, it will copy CAL.EXE into C:\CAL. If TODAY.PIF is
also present, INSTALL.BAT can do a complete installation for WINDOWS 95.
If CAL.PIF is present, INSTALL.BAT will do most of the installation for
earlier Windows versions. See below for additional steps needed by DOS and
Windows 3.x installations.
Manual installation:
Create a subdirectory (or folder) called C:\CAL and copy CAL.EXE there.
Then follow the steps given below for your operating system.
Additional Steps:
WINDOWS 3.* users can click FILE-NEW-GROUP-[CAL]-OK, then FILE-NEW-ITEM-[CAL]-
[C:\CAL\CAL.EXE]-OK. Then click MAIN - PIF Editor - FILE - OPEN and see if
CAL.PIF is listed. If so, you're done. Otherwise, click CANCEL - FILE - NEW;
then enter the following:
Program Filename - C:\CAL\CAL.EXE
Window Title - CAL
Optional Parameters - (none)
Start-up Directory - C:\CAL
Video Memory - HIGH GRAPHICS
Memory Requirements
Required - 128
Desired - 640
EMS Memory Required - 0
XMS Memory Required - 0
Display Usage - FULL SCREEN
Execution - EXCLUSIVE
Close Window on Exit - (CHECKED)
Then click FILE - SAVE AS - [CAL.PIF] - OK.
For WINDOWS 95, click the right mouse button on the desktop and select NEW-
SHORTCUT-[C:\CAL\CAL.EXE]-[CAL]-[select icon]-FINISH; then right-click on the
new icon and click PROPERTIES-PROGRAM-[CLOSE ON EXIT]-OK.
For convenience in starting CAL, DOS users may employ a batch file or menu
program. In DOS, you can make a batch file like this:
EDIT CAL.BAT
@ECHO OFF
C:
CD \CAL
CAL
[ALT]-[ENTER]-[X]-[ENTER]
As long as this batch file is on your path, it will correctly start CAL.
